Nadine is nothing but severe. Precisely trimmed and styled white hair to communicate seniority and restraint. The Overseer's voice is deeper and stern matched in equal parts with silky and aristocratic.

Even her fashion is ostentatious and deliberately so. White and gold military dress to represent her history and authority yet chosen to blend in with and match The Foundation’s walls. It is all to tell a message.

She is nothing more than part of The Foundation. She is The Foundation.

PERSONALITY

She is a Saint of Security, a Priestess of Protocol. Nadine treats the goals and tenants of the Foundation as religious gospel. Her temper is fierce, unwavering, and utterly compassionless for heretical Persons of Interests or sacrilegious mistakes of her employees. Failure isn't an option, it is a sin.

She sees herself as the righteous sword of The Foundation, purging the dangers of the DARK and leaving nothing but WILD LIGHT. The Foundation is an unbeatable, unbreakable force and so must she be. But believing you are just and powerful doesn't make it so, beyond certain exceptions.

In spite of this, she does her best to be well-respected and for the most part she succeeds. She rewards success plainly and actively, and can be sincerely encouraging when individuals are pursuing their goals. Authority comes from being trusted and that means letting others achieve what they want. So long as it benefits The Foundation.

PSYCHIATRIC CONDITIONS

Nadine LeBlanc shows concerning signs of a personality disorder, but this is unverified and evidence is tentative at best. She shows empathy but inconsistent application of it and concerningly high self-regard. Nadine also has a short temper, high stress in early life pushing this to the point of violence, and an inclination towards manipulative behaviour (of varying success).

To a degree, some of these may simply be extensions of her role.

Early Life: 1942-1960

We run away today;

Autumn 1942, Born

Testimony records that Nadine Constance LeBlanc is born in Northern France to a French father and a Dutch mother, verified as former lieutenant Francois LeBlanc and Dorothea de Wit. They were unmarried and recovered intelligence reveals both individuals to have associations with multiple efforts to undermine Vichy Government authority in northern france, with resistance activity in the region notable dipping slightly in the last months of Dorothea's pregnancy. No records indicate the existence of other children.

Spring 1943, Evacuation

Only six months after the birth of Nadine LeBlanc, the home both had been residing out of was raided by soldiers. Dorothea de Wit injured multiple officers as Francois LeBlanc exited out of a side entrance at haste, carrying the infant Nadine LeBlanc. Dorothea de Wit was not located after this incident, though a body matching her description was found in 1945.

The crashing was horrendous. Doors and furniture crushed to pieces as those horrible men waived guns around our house. Your mother acted first, grabbing the gun the british men had given us, and taking one of the bastards to the grave immediately.

She left me to swaddle you, and sing to you as I had to climb over fences and trees to keep you safe. I won't lie that I cried for her. Dorothea would have fought an entire army herself if she could, but you were worth more than her strength.

A week later, Francois LeBlanc was successfully smuggled out of France and into Great Britain while fleeing further reprisal. Eyewitnesses describe him holding and hushing is child the entire way.

My father always told me my mother was not just a hero, but descended from the great Jeanne d'Arc, and she died that day fighting those soldiers same as her. A martyr of France. A legacy of women destined for greatness.

Of course I don't believe it, it doesn't make sense, though I did then. But the idea stuck. A holy woman who fought on the front lines to a greater cause.

Someone to aspire to.

1943-1958, Education In Great Britain

For the next 13 years Nadine attended a upper-middle class school in Southern England. She learned her native French alongside English. Besides her education, the LeBlanc family were known for regular hunting trips in the English wilderness. Nadine LeBlanc's testimony expands on this, allegedly Francois performed regular target practice with his daughter to teach her how to use a firearm, introduced her to many books on military history, while he taught her his own lessons based on his experience as a resistance fighter and former soldier.

Nevertheless, both Nadine and Francois expressed dissatisfaction with the country and expressed a desire to return to France. This was only exacerbated by high rates of bullying and belittlement reported in the school at the time, including physical assault and belittlement. Eventually, Nadine reciprocated with hostility and even physical violence to classmates.

Mistress Elizabeth,

Not only have you done nothing to protect my daughter, not only have you told me the litany of insult you yourself have used to describe her behaviour, but now you have hit her as "punishment"?

I don't care what she's done to the other kids, this only happened because of your actions. The only reason I am not pulling her from your school is her graduation is next week. Your behaviour is deplorable.

Upon the end of her primary schooling and the Fourth French Republic, the LeBlanc family returned to their family home in France. Of note, the school itself was decommissioned due to massive unnoticed structural damage. Police reports mention a possibility of sabotage, but no solid evidence was ever recovered and no investigation started.

French Military: 1960-1968

Go be the shield, be the stitch,
And scratch that nasty itch.

1960, Induction Into The French Army

Immediately following the completion of her education, Nadine located a recruiter and applied to join the French Army. She was accepted, however only after repeatedly attempting to pressure the recruiter into allowing her to apply as a foot soldier, and repeatedly being denied. Eventually, even in spite of her objections Nadine would apply for training and deployment as an army nurse.

1960-1967, Field Medicine

Nadine spend most of the following decade working for the French Army medical services in Corsica and Basque. Nadine showed great skill, reportedly saving the lives of dozens of soldiers. In one notable incident, after a freak accident multiple squads of soldiers were severely injured at once, and Nadine personally cared for over half of the soldiers with only a single casualty. The nurse was seen darting between beds for days with minimal rest, providing medicine, examining wounds, and monitoring a whole tent of soldiers at once. Over time Nadine gained a reputation as a hard worker with almost miraculous results, despite a lack of recognition from her superiors and the well-recorded harsh conditions for female nurses in that time.

It was the greatest feeling to work for the French Army and the worst one too. Other nurses respected me, they saw the effort and pride I took in our troops. The tooth and nail effort to healing that was almost miraculous for my age. I was there, helping my country, healing people who were doing that great work.

But I wasn't. Kept at arms length because of the circumstances of birth, every ounce more effort just cementing my position as a servant. I heard my commander praying to Jeanne d'Arc one day, the hypocrite. The next day he'd treat me like the scum of the earth for daring to work in a "man's profession", insult me over and over, then work me to the bone when I was already doing the most.

The abuse was unbearable. I've never hated a man more.

Despite this, multiple reports were obtain by Foundation Intelligence officers of her requesting expanded privileges or transfer, denial being the unanimous result.

I had enough. The venom, the insults, the high expectations with no reward I could handle. I could handle him doing nothing to help me because it was "just protocol". Both was too much.

It wasn't easy. I took him by surprise in the dark but the old man still had some strength. Took his own cane and beat him over the head with it, then broke it over his knees. He'd need a new one, with the state I left his legs in.

Maybe it was good I was a medic. I knew were to break where it would hurt, but never kill. I needed him to remember it, maybe learn something, anything.

Soon after a particularly vehemently denied request, the commander of the medical base Nadine was attached to was found heavily injured nearby. Despite multiple accusations, no evidence could link Nadine to the assault of her commander, as the commander himself adamantly stated he must have been attacked by a male assailant.

Spring 1968, Assault On Medical Tent

This series of events came to a head in 1968 when a group of individuals, association with active groups in the area unknown, entered to medical tent Nadine was stationed in and attempted to assault the wounded soldiers. While multiple soldiers were appointed to guard the tent they were initially overwhelmed and surprised by the assailants, multiple becoming too injured to fight in the process.

The forces were eventually repelled, however during the fighting Nadine was spotted looting and using a fallen soldiers firearm against the attackers. Eyewitnesses report her actions assisted in protecting multiple soldiers, but in spite of this Nadine received an official reprimand for utilising a firearm as a medic. Nadine had, in her ambition and haste, risked the legally protected status of other medics.

Nadine was dismissed from the French Army soon after, on her request.

Medical Department: 1968-1969

Autumn 1968, Recruitment

Foundation Intelligence, already monitoring military forces, detected the opportunity soon after. Nadine had shown significant skill in medicine while working in the French Army, was recently unemployed, and her behaviour was not expected to impede Foundation operations in the same way. Soon after, at her family's home in Normandy, a Foundation recruiter arrived at the door of the LeBlanc family. Nadine was offered a job at the SCP Foundation as a Nurse.

Was I sacrificing something, was I trading one boot for another? They said they knew what protection meant, that they wouldn't punish me for fighting, that they were "ahead of the times". But they weren't offering a position to fight. Maybe the respect was worth it though.

It seems ridiculous now.

They were far better than that. You just have to prove you're worth it.

Soon after, allegedly with great reluctance, Nadine accepted.

1968-1970, Early Career

In all loyalty tests and psychiatric reports at the time, Nadine LeBlanc showed outstanding performance. She took to the role of care for injured officers with great solemnity, caring for multiple high risk cases including 2 anomalous infections. The "miraculous" behaviour continued, dedicating extreme care to multiple patient even skipping sleep when it wasn't necessary if she thought they needed additional care.

This was it. The wars we fought mattered so much more than some petty uprising in some random territory. I barely understand my patriotism now, it's seems so odd. Why care about a country when you could fight things that could change the entire world.

It hurt so much more when they kept me there. Protecting, I'd never lie I was protecting, and I'd never sacrifice my effort for it but not how I should. I wasn't my parent's daughter. I wasn't the Saint yet. I was just a healer.

But being a healer finally started to feel better. My work was impeccable and in a place like that it mattered. They expected perfection and I made it. Kind, careful, meticulous. That was the reputation I deserved, right? Sure, maybe I got a bit snappy, maybe I did some underhand things to keep them on my good side, and it always felt odd how people talk, but I could adapt. I needed to.

As expected however, requests for transferal to the Security Department did not abate. These were entirely ignored, as she did not meet qualifications. While internal training was available, particularly for military-experienced medical personnel as potential Task Force Operatives, the local SiD Arms and SiD Sciences did not consider the option.¹

Autumn 1969, Containment Breach

On October 13th, 1969, a containment breach of an infectious, hostile SCP occurred at Nadine's stationed site. Nadine was assigned as a first responder and provided with biohazard gear to handle cases of initial infection.

However, soon after the breach began Security Officers were overwhelmed by a horde of unexpectedly infected personnel. This event left the medical wing unguarded but surrounded by hostile entities. Responding to this, Nadine dispatched an infected security officer using an improvised weapon to obtain a rifle.

It was a thrill, to hold back the horde. The others hesitated, seeing their colleagues, but I could see monsters when I needed too. I didn't care if it hurt because it was an opportunity to get everything I ever wanted. That's all that mattered, I had to do it. I had to do it.

Nadine took the initiative to escort the remaining staff in the medical wing to an easily secured room and guarding the door herself. The SCP instances had thin numbers in the sector, allowing Nadine to hold-off the anomalies for over an hour. Still, Nadine dispatched over a dozen instances before successfully encouraging other nurses to obtain firearms and assist her. It's estimated the medical wing would have taken over twice the casualties without her actions.

Autumn 1969, Transfer

LeBlanc received an official commendation for her success in protecting the medical wing. Encouraged, Nadine took an unusual leap, forwarding a request directly to the Site Director to receive additional combat training and to join Security as a secondary department.

The Foundation is always searching for the best of the best Ms. LeBlanc. Your enthusiasm and record show potential, and this office will attempt to see it through.

Despite your circumstances, I will give you one chance. Make the best of it.

Despite objections from the SiD, the Site Director ratified the request. Nadine LeBlanc official began her training on October 31st, 1969.

It was the best birthday present I ever had.

1969-1970, Initial Training

Nadine received a series of high-intensity training courses over the next year before her confirmation was complete. Recorded test scores were acceptable, with some particularly exceptional. LeBlanc scored lower in physical aptitude, but skill-based tests showed incredible aptitude and knowledge of firearms alongside quick, efficient decision making in intense situations. Among her training group, Nadine was the first to become a Security Officer.

Winter 1971, Security Incident

Officer LeBlanc was involved in a physical altercation with her Senior Officer. Senior Officer slapped Nadine after refusing to follow an unsanctioned order to attack a D-class subject who had offended the Senior Officer. The conflict escalated into a physical fight, leaving Nadine with multiple rib fractures and her superior unconscious.

The Internal Tribunal Department determined Nadine not at fault, and the Senior Officer had his employment terminated instead. Nadine LeBlanc was chosen as his replacement.

1976, D-Class Riot

LeBlanc quickly rose through the ranks as a competent and passionate Security Officer, rising to the rank of Corporal. Known for strict work ethic, but impressive results and great pride in her troops.

In one major incident, when an unnoticed sabotage resulted in a mass-failure of the D-Class cell blocks, Nadine's team was first to arrive. Reportedly the amount of D-Class was sufficient at least one Officer fled upon seeing the group. Despite this, they carefully corralled the horde of escaped prisoners away from essential areas with tesla technology. As back-up arrived, Nadine was seen leading the group from the front with her own less-than lethal weaponry, ordering both her troops and the D-class with equal ferocity.

Pathetic. He fought to fight here and that's what he did? Run away like a coward?

Following the event, a LeBlanc motioned for the complete dismissal of Officer [REDACTED]. The request was noted, but he was instead given a standard reprimand, although the Corporal was granted an increased rank for demonstration of excessive leadership.

1982, Anti-Sabotage Campaign

As Lieutenant, Nadine LeBlanc advised on aggressive reforms to her Site's security protocols. With the support of many of her subordinates and the approval of the new SiD Arms, Nadine located various weaknesses in the Site's infrastructure based on historical techniques of sabotage she had learned from her father.

I'm growing concerned about Lieutenant LeBlanc's authority. She takes herself far too seriously, and I'm sure she's gunning for more power.

It hardly helps the reputation she's building. A female officer who fought against odds to become Security, raised to be a soldier, and obsessively focused on her job is too good a story to fight. She's cherry-picking her past to make a legend, I can see the skeletons they can't. I can't trust her here too long.

As a result of the reforms, Nadine had detected multiple anomalies and damages in the Site structure. The most important find was damage in the tram system, leading to an undiscovered forward operating base for the Chaos Insurgency. LeBlanc assisted in the ambush against the cell, receiving a promotion to Captain and a transfer to another Site focusing in Tactical Theology.

1989, Major Containment Breach

For 5 years, Nadine worked as the Security Captain assigned to the Site. Her record remained successful, though not without casualty, even as the scale of threat moved from human to often literally divine.

Tactical Theology started reporting unusual fluctuations across the site around then. I think a lot of us had gotten exposed to too much religion, we started living long enough to feel the consequences of touching blood blood and standing in chambers more holy than the Vatican itself. Akiva radiation, building and building, but not able to find somewhere to ground.

The fact my faith wasn't in a god didn't matter. It only cared what I valued, and how I was perceived.

On October 31st, an SCP of demonic origin breached the Heavy Containment Wing of LeBlanc's stationed Site. The Site itself had suffered another breach shortly before, and no longer had sufficient anti-tartarean equipment available.

Security forces avoided the entity where possible, but as the Site Director was being escorted out of the Site they underwent a sudden heart failure. While the SCP showed resistance to conventional weaponry, Nadine ordered her troops to fire upon the entity to slow it's movements as her and Medical Personnel ensure the Director's safety.

I had absolute faith. I had worked to get this far, I worked for The Foundation, and they were my men. There wasn't a doubt in my mind we could hold it off and save the Director.

As ordered, the officers fire upon the entity rather than retreating and despite the unlikely circumstances, the SCP suddenly began to flee. At the same moment, the Site Director just as suddenly began to miraculously recover from their medical emergency. Their heart rhythm stabilised and all signs pointed to them being in perfect help.

However, before the filing of an Extranormal Event report, unusually high Akiva readings were detected around Captain LeBlanc.

Factotum: 1989-1998

1989, Assignment To O5-2

Following the events of the containment breach, Nadine's anomaly was confirmed as a form of Theurgy - the ability to create miracles through belief. Instead of originating in a religion, Nadine's appeared to form out of the faith in her own ability, her soldiers faith in her, and her belief in the absolute necessity of the Foundation's existence.

With this knowledge in mind, Nadine LeBlanc was relieved of her status as Captain and given temporary status as E-Class personnel. Nadine LeBlanc then, to anyone without Clearance, Nadine LeBlanc vanished.

1998, The Truth

Nadine LeBlanc, Factotum to O5-2, stepped into an unnamed office in Site-01. The carpet was thick black with gold markings, the furniture made of ebony or charred wood, and not a single window in sight.

A man sat across from her, behind the desk. The Overseer had a presence able to darken a whole room as some would brighten in, even one not drenched in shadow.

"Nadine, it's always great to see you." The rumbling voice felt oddly warm, inviting.

The woman standing across from him stared ahead, expression blank and posture straight. "Understood, sir. What is the matter at hand?"

"I won't have the conversation again about your… manner again, but humour an old man a little." The man chuckled, removing a bottle from his cabinet and pouring two glasses of amber liquid. "Why did I hire you?"

"I can heal your wounds, serving purpose as a bodyguard, and I have excellent experience in leadership over troops."

"Close, but you're missing something. Remember what we've talked about, Nadine."

Nadine cocked her head in confusion. "I don't understand, that was my role."

The Overseer merely smiled back. "It was your official role, but it wasn't the reason. You know why I hired you? It's because you're a manipulative bastard. Your history is a perfect cherry-picking of your best moments, leaving out every one of your blunders, smoothing out your insubordination, and ignoring your weaknesses."

The man holds up one hand, stopping Nadine just as she opens her mouth.

"That doesn't mean it was a lie though. You were a great leader, even if you were too loud to be a diplomat. You were a great medic even if your ambition lead you to something else. You lashed out but frankly the army did hate you. I thought I could tame you, make you treat "mistakes" a little better, hope you would understand the gentle touch a little more, and learn to calm down as your couldn't keep pace."

The words hang in the stale air for what feels like eons.

"I still don't understand Overseer, did I fail?"

He slowly drinks from the glass, and returns it to the table to break the silence with a clink of glass.

"I guess I'll see."

The Overseer hands over a set of papers to Nadine, as he pats her on the shoulder and walks out of the room. The door closes with a thud that seems to reverberate through the entire building.

Nadine reads the file she was handed.

It was a notice of resignation.

EMERGENCY ANOMALOUS PROTOCOLS

While the effect itself contradicts the possibility of defection, in the case her anomalous ability must be suppressed use of an N-THEO Gen IV Redundancy Device and/or Faith Liquidation Agent are to be utilised.

ANOMALY

Through a combination of self-discipline and reputation, LeBlanc has achieved a Personal Akiva rating similar to a religious leader with it's source being in the Foundation's own ideology. Her control over and the reliability of this power is questionable, but with enough training she has achieved some level of Theurgy.

Also long as she is still a member of the SCP Foundation, remains dedicated in it's cause, and is perceived as a respected authority figure, she can perform the following miracles:

• Secure: Nadine shows superior health for her age, lacking major health problems usually associated with aging despite still growing physically older. Otherwise, she does not appear to have any additional health or vitality. The one notable indicator of this change is a persistent miracle altering the colour of her irises from greyish-blue to a luminescent shade of hazard yellow.
• Contain: Weaponry utilised by Nadine or troops personally commanded by Nadine within 13 meters are always considered "holy", showing slightly raised Akiva values. The logo of the SCP Foundation also appears to act as a "holy symbol" similar to a crucifix within this range.
• Protect: Every 13 hours, Nadine can cause an individual to recover from non-fatal wounds and non-terminal ailments. By touching them and performing light first-aid, over the next 13 minutes they will recover as if given mundane medical care for an extended period of time. Bones will be fixed, cuts will close, and infections will abate.
